Scientists are close to discovering the dog particle, a new subatomic piece in the jigsaw that will explain the fundamental physics of matter.
The new particle cannot be observed directly but its existence can be proved by throwing a microscopic stick and watching it being retrieved.
Every time we discover one of these new particles it makes the job tougher, said Prof Noggle C Sadday of the Broozer-Peatface laboratories in Sheerness-by-Chance. I'm fed up with it. I was much happier when we just had to deal with earth, wind, fire and cheese.
